Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC)

The Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC) is a non-profit organisation set up in Brussels in 2012. BIC represents the private sector in a public-private partnership (PPP) with the EU, represented by the European Commission, known as the Bio-based Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI JU), which was established in June 2014.

The EU bioeconomy strategy portal

Launched and adopted on 13 February 2012, Europe’s Bioeconomy Strategy addresses the production of renewable biological resources and their conversion into vital products and bioenergy. Under the lead of DG Research and Innovation, the Strategy was co-signed by several other Commission departments namely DG Agriculture and Rural Development, DG Environment, DG Maritime Affairs, and DG Industry and Entrepreneurship.

Spanish Innovation and Technology Platform of ‘Biomass for the Bioeconomy’ (BIOPLAT)

BIOPLAT is a group of sectoral technical-scientific coordination and excellence, made up of all the relevant actors in the biomass sector in Spain – understood in its broadest sense, both in terms of biomass resources (all types of recoverable organic matter), transformation technologies and applications (bioenergy, bioproducts, biomaterials and biochemicals), as well as sustainability and regulatory framework aspects.
Its objective is to provide a framework in which all the sectors involved in the development of biomass work together and in coordination to ensure that the commercial implementation of bioenergy and bioproducts in Spain enjoys continuous growth, in a competitive and sustainable manner.
