After running Adaptive Laboratory Evolution experiments to improve the tolerance of Actinobacillus succinogenes and Basfia succiniproducens to high concentrations of sugars, newly isolated evolved strains were tested for their improved substrate tolerance. The screening of new evolved isolates from A. succinogenes growing on two different Candy Waste concentrations has been successfully completed, showing significant improvements in the growth rate of the evolved strains. Screening of evolved isolates originating from B. succiniproducens will be completed in the coming weeks.
